REGISTRATION FOR PEARLS FROM PEARL 2012 IS LIVE NOW! http://jrf.org/pearl/sessions/2012
PEARL (Providing Education and Resources for Leadership) the distance-learning program offered by JRF, provides meaningful information and strategies beneficial to congregational leaders, members, clergy, educators and staff. Expert speakers partner with JRF professional staff and lay leaders to support the strengthening of congregations and havurot, grow leadership, deepen Jewish spiritual life and continue critical tikkun olam/social justice work. With input from JRF congregational leadership, clergy, staff and board members, a variety of PEARL topics are selected each year.

http://jrf.org/pearl/archiveWith 50 programs now available as well
as other congregational resources, and based on feedback from those of you who participated last year, consultation with movement leadership and staff across regions and our analysis of needs based on consultations, PEARL 2012: PEARLS FROM PEARL uses the rich resources we have developed in affinity working groups by communal size appropriate to our movement (small 20-80hh, medium 81-200hh, large 200hh up). Additional sessions not limited to congregational size will focus on education, life-long learning and tikkun olam.
These calls will take place between February and June 2012 under topic headings with staff or expert volunteer backing using the resources we have developed to deepen the work of growing and sustaining healthy and vibrant sacred communities.
This year we are asking you to put together a leadership team, including clergy if you have a rabbi, cantor or rabbinical student. Acknowledging not everyone on your team will make every call, you may want to bring on additional team members (e.g. membership, finance, publicity) given the subject matter, to deepen the learning and ensure you get the greatest benefit in bringing your learning back home. With each program we assume preparation both through review of past-sessions listed for each session, and a general understanding based on Reconstructionist principles that the mission/vision/values form the basis of decisions regardless of topic issue you are dealing with. This informs the Jewish the organizational philosophical basis for our conversations.
The topic areas will follow the same progression for each of congregational size cohorts and detailed links for material to review, drawn from the existing PEARL library are listed on each registration page. The goal of this year’s PEARL program is to have more dialogue, based on the preparation ahead of time, and share best practices, rather than reviewing the basics as in previous years, given the wealth of material in audio, packets and webinars available. Each PEARL class meets for one to one and a half hour by telephone conference call. Classes are often supported by downloadable resources, webinars and select audio files. Some classes, are a follow up or expansion on previously presented topics.
As of 2010 year, the PEARL series was integrated with
JRF's annual Omer Initiative (begun in 2005, seven weeks of learning between Passover and Shavuot with session focusing on "tikkun hanefesh v'olam", the well-being and active repair of self, community and the world. Please see
